ETC 2013 results from earlier ETC

Thought I post the earlier final results from ETC.

From 2008 I only got this:

1 Poland
2 Germany
3 Sweden
4 France
5 Italy
6 Spain
7 Slovakia
8 Austria
9 Russia
10 Hungary

Poland and Germany were strong in the top with a very solemn final game. But in the end Poland prevailed. I actually don’t know much about the other countries and set-up so I leave it at that. Well worth noting France in top 4.

2009
Rank Country Points
1 Sweden 11
2 Poland 11
3 France 7
4 Germany 7
5 Mercenaries 7
6 Spain 7
7 Italy 6
8 Russia 6
9 Hungria 6
10 England 6
11 Denmark 6
12 Faroe Islands 5
13 Austria 5
14 Switzerland 2
15 Czech Republic 2
16 Northern Ireland 1

Now in 2009 there was some hot changes that I like. Sweden won over Poland and with only a draw (I think it was against Italy) they really came on top. It could have been that Poland and Sweden played a draw. This year France got past Germany. England’s first tournament sent them to the tenth position.

2010
Ranking Country Points
1 Poland 10
2 Germany 9

17 Finland 5
18 Hungary 5
19 Ireland 5
20 Scotland 4
21 Wales 4
22 Czech 4
23 Belgium 2
24 Northern Island 1

Now Germany was very eager to take a victory but Poland in the end won. Winning only five of the six games, which can also be worth mentioning, can be a total win, apparently. Poland is so far the only country to have a double win and should be considered very dangerous still. Spain surprised and took the third place having finished 6:th the previous years. USA’s first tournament and starting the discussion if it should be called WTC instead. (Which it should, of course).

2011

Germany got the best of the rest in 2011 and a longed win finally came. Poland second loosing to Germany but both of them had a hard time with Sweden. USA with it’s 35 times higher amount of population they succeeded to get the best of Sweden this year and had most likely learned a lot from the year before. Both Spain and France is up there sniffing about as well with France taking a break from being serious in 2010.

Last year England surprised a lot of people and got to win the entire ordeal! Sweden was a all time low, finishing 8 and Spain all the way down 18. France kept up their good work and Poland stayed high although lowest for them yet. 2012’s other surprise was my favorite team Italy which I have heard a lot of good things about. I’m not sure but I think that Sweden have faced them several times coming off a draw most of them. Russia still up high.

So what to look for? Well for starters with a new edition we really don’t know that much. GW has released so much in a short time that many things have made the game really hard to find the perfect meta for 8 different armies. The amazing variation that the games bring to ETC where one player has Imperial guardsmen with allied Grey knights, another Chaos with allied Necrons and the variation comes from their two buddies that brings Grey knights with their allied Guardsmen and the fourth guy playing Necrons with allied Chaos dragons.

I really hope they force the team to only have one army in the entire team next year. Allied or non allied. I think we can see even more interesting lists. But there is still some great variation. Bringing the balanced all-comer list can be hard in a setting as the ETC as many balancing rules of normal 40k goes out of the window.

So we don’t know much. The game’s balance is hard to see (at least more so than 5:th), the setting of ETC makes it even harder and last year showed some surprises in teams. But if I should rank top 5 (in no special order):

Germany, Poland, Sweden, England and US. France, Italy and England should be around there as well.

Which five teams will be in the top according to you?

Comments
  1. Excellent writing!

I think we will se a top consisting of France, Poland, Sweden, USA and Italy deduced from their armylists, players and ETC history. I of course really want Sweden to win, but seeing as I’m not in the team I think it may be hard with such fierce competition this year 😛

  2. Olof Svensson says:

The ones i think will do best are: Sweden, Germany, Poland, England, USA.

    But then, who knows?
